Penile implants have been used since 1950. The three-piece type mostly used today has been implemented in 1973 for the first time.
In the USA as well as in Western Europe, the penile implants are mostly used to solve erectile dysfunctions. There are hundreds of implants used every year in specialized medical centers in Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, and Spain.
In 1992, a first penile implant was implemented in Brno, Czech Republic. Since then, no specialized center of penile implants or surgical treatment of erectile dysfunction developed in Czech Republic.
In 2016, a private center ISCARE in Prague opened a highly specialized facility offering the same level of services as in Western Europe or in the USA. The head specialists in the field are Mr. Libor Zámečník, M.D., Ph.D. FEBU, FECSM and Mr. Lukáš Bittner, M.D., FEBU, FECSM who both have many years of practice and are accounted for as the main Czech experts in the field.
